Cotton oil

Part of the project was to look at alternative vegetable oils that could also be used as PPO

It was found that Brendon Evans, a Zimbabwan farmer who established himself on the EVRETZ farm in Chimoio had experimented with Cotton oil, which he made edible with a treatment of caustic soda and water, see attached report.

This treated cotton oil is normally sold as edible oil, mainly for cooking purposes. It can however technically be used as PPO in diesel engines.
