A two week training course in Jatropha production was developed and held for the first time in 14 to 26 September 2009.

Objectives
The objectives are to increase capacity of
persons working in Jatropha projects with small farmers in SADC countries. Participants
will profit from the experiences of the FACT-ADPP pilot project.
The present
project leaders and extension officers will train the participants, mostly in
the fields they are working with the farmers in Farmers Clubs.
The course covers good production practices for
jatropha as learnt through experience gathered from working with small scale
farmers and extensive on-farm research work in Mozambique. Participant shall
also be introduced to jatropha processing and conversion technology in the
newly established bio fuel center.
Target group
practitioners, project leaders, extension
officers and other people involved in similar projects within SADC countries,
having an agricultural background in education and/or practical experience.
Materials
All participants will receive:
- A copy for the FACT Jatropha
Handbook for each participant
- Handbook on nursery management
- A knife for making cuttings
- A CD with up to date collection
of documents about Jatropha and the course material
- A certificate of attendance.
