Introduction
Program
- Morning:
- Afternoon:
- Visit to the old Jatropha trees
in Bilibiza
- Visit Jatropha fields around
ADPP and the BBC
Goal
After this day the participants should
have an understanding of why bio-fuels are getting so much attention, what
different bio-fuels exist, in what ways Jatropha is different from other fuel
crops, and what is happening in different parts of the world. They should also
understand the differences between fist, second and third generation bio-fuels
and the trends in bio-fuels. They should also know about the toxicity of the
plant and understand how bio-fuel production can contribute to development. For
the last topic they must be able to distinguish between the impacts and
potential of small scale bio-fuel production for local development versus large
scale production for the world market.
